As an activator

The silver-nitrate also acts as an activator. More specifically, it only activates the Hydrogen Peroxide when it is exposed to pollution (organic material). While reacting with an organic substance, silver starts losing its stabilizing property, as well as activates the Hydrogen Peroxide. Capacity of silver remains unaffected until the Hydrogen Peroxide comes into contact with organic substances.
